The Naga Junior Suite is accessed from a private staircase to the first floor of the Lamache House. This spacious Junior Suite has windows to the side and over the courtyard. With panelled cream torchis walls and a semi-pitched roof, it is floored in gleaming exotic wood. Coloured silk blinds filter the sun and Lao silks add restrained yet intensely patterned decoration. Elegant furnishings are custom-made in stylish wood, with dining, working and living spaces superbly equipped. For guests who can't travel without a laptop computer there is a working desk and wireless internet access. A luxury bathroom, in exotic wood and gleaming ceramics, adds to the comfort of this historic interior. Guests can enjoy breakfast in the Suite or on their private seating terrace. Building History: Lamache House was built in 1898 for Royal Court meetings. Decades later, the grandchildren of the original owner started to make ice-cream on the premises. Their concoctions became very popular in Luang Prabang and they were appointed as the official Royal Court ice-cream supplier. During recent building restoration work, the 3 Nagas discovered 3 bottles still filled with the essence extracts used for the original ice-cream flavours. These are now displayed in the Lamache House lobby. The Lamache House was restored using traditional techniques and with respect to the original structure. Most woodwork, floors and furniture are made with May Pow wood, traditionally used in the construction of boats. |
